As Timm Frietas points out in his Garden of English video, the College Board doesn't define "line of reasoning" in the AP Lang Course and Exam Description, but it does in the AP LIT book. On page 19, "line of reasoning" is defined as a "logical sequence of claims that work together to defend the overarching thesis statement" and that it is "communicated through commentary that explains the logical relationship between the overarching thesis statement and the claims/ evidence within the body of the essay."
